Elephant Seals Map
Elephant seals have steadily increased their population for the last 100 years. While they are beautiful to watch, partly because you can get dangerously close to such a huge wild animal, you must remember that they are also EXTREMELY dangerous animals. Keep your distance and realize that they can move faster than you! (Their teeth are really big too.)
The Elephant Seals are just a few miles North of the Castle Visitors Center. There really is “nothing but ocean” for miles, so you can’t miss it… Unless…. Unless you pass the Piedras Blancas light house, then you know that you went a mile or two too far…. so turn around and park at the first place that you can South of the lighthouse.
sidenote:
Piedras Blancas means white rocks…. careful examination will reveal that is a polite name for the rocks.
